The Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme helps you to purchase a new build property to live in up to a value of £600,000, with a loan from the government towards the deposit. In England and Wales after 5 years you’ll start to pay interest on the government loan. To qualify you’d have to put down your own 5% deposit and the amount contributed by the government depends if the property is in London, the rest of England, Scotland or Wales. There are just a few eligibility criteria for potential buyers to meet in order to qualify for it, such as:
· Be a UK resident
· Must be purchasing a new build
· Must not own any other property at the time of the equity loan
· The property you obtain the Help to Buy loan on must not be rented out or      purchased for Buy to Let purposes
·Generate enough income to keep up the mortgage repayments

In doing well with all things at Revilo Homes, we wanted to see what we could do next to make things even better.


We know that a home is not just bricks and mortar. It’s a place to sleep and to feel safe, a place to relax and to entertain, and perhaps a place to bring up a family or just lock-out the world outside. As developers as well as estate agents, at Revilo, we take a holistic approach to our homes. In addition to these factors that were costing us more investment once the properties had been bought, buying at market value – even in the best negotiated case – wasn’t serving us as the best possible business model we could think of. As a result, we decided that if we couldn’t always buy the best homes, we’d build them ourselves.

Revilo MD, Darren Clawson, was heading up his own local firm when he responded to a social media business post. Revilo had been impressed by Darren’s professional response to the post and became even more impressed when Darren was able to complete the job on time, on budget and to an impeccable standard.


We believe in loyalty to hard-working contractors and offered Darren an opportunity to complete a full house refurbishment. The incentive was that, should the project be completed to the same high standards, within budget and within a set timescale, a potential business venture could be discussed and this led to the action of Revilo Capital buying up a piece of land in Todmorden with planning permission for the building of three townhouses. Darren once again exceeded expectations whilst at the helm of the venture, and with all three houses complete in December 2016, Revilo Developments was born soon after.
